Yes! I’ve recently started needing closed-captioning and find that much of the time the words are a jumbled mess…not just for live news broadcasts, but for pre-produced scripted shows. There should be no excuse for incomplete or inaccurate CC for scripted shows…the script actually exists before the words are spoken. Granted, there can be moments of improv by actors, but CC services should already have the basic text of dialogue if they are provided with the shooting script. Then it should be just a matter of verifying quality. What the bigwigs don’t seem to realize is that their audience that relies on CC will be growing as many people jeopardize their hearing with improper use of earbuds and iPods. I’m glad there will be a system for commenting on closed-captioning. As it is now, it takes some research to get a message through.

Great comment! I am glad to know that this will make things easier for you and for many viewers. I couldn’t agree more: It is awful when pre-recorded programming has sub-par captions, as there really is no excuse for it… especially those producers with money to pay for good captions.
